Bend, Oregon We recently visited Bend and found it to be a very nice city.  Incredibly, for a city that would seem to be out in nowhere land, there are a lot of things to do and see in this area.  First of all, the surrounding area is very scenic and tranquil.  Within perhaps a 100 mile radius are over a dozen beautiful lakes of different sizes. Fishing, camping, hiking, and skiing are readily available.  The area is a combination of high desert and tree-covered mountains.  Also within this region are numerous volcanic peaks and calderas.  Here are a few shots of highlights from the area.
