Radio Control Airplanes
After a lengthy abstinance, I'm back flying RC. It's really amazing how much technology has changed and advanced over the years. PPM AM radios are now PCM FM narrow band and even include microprocessors. Computer control allows nearly limitless mixing and selective control of surfaces. Engine technology has also advanced. Ignition gas engines and four-stroke glow engines are now readily available. Very unusual in the past.

This high wing trainer is really fun to fly. It will slow way down and squeak onto the runway for perfect touch and goes. I have no clue what the plane is since I got it at a swap meet. I put a new OS 46FX on it and really like the performance.

Here's as shot of a touch down.

Here's a 3/4 throttle go around.

The main bummer at our field is that the wind typically is from left to right or right to left--but even so, there many days where the cross wind is tricky. The bad part of this is that the cross wind is into the pit area (i.e., coming right at you). So keeping the plane on the runway and away from the pits is a fairly constant challenge. The other problem is that the pit area is to the east of the runway. So in the afternoon, flyers are looking into the sun. Consequently, I fly mostly in the mornings.
